The Thinker

The Black Hat

Again it was the black hat that got my attention, but the biggest challenge was to make the barn wall behind the boy.
Doesn't he look like did something?
Yes I know I have issues with eyes, nose and mouth not being consistent
Summertime

What drew me here was the girls hair, just had to try those curls.
Also had to try to make the boy look like he is going to spit seeds
Indian Child

She is just so sweet and I really wanted to pinch her cheeks.
Red Bandanna

I am a sucker for red - the red bandanna just had to be painted. But let me tell you red pastel can really migrate across a painting, couple it with black next to it and it was quite a challenge to keep them in place with no fixative.
Young Brave

Yes, I fell in love with this young brave, in his prime - I found him on the cover of an old book in black and white and just had to paint him in living color.

Again the character of the face drew me, oh the life he's seen and stories he could tell.

Loved the character studies of these two - they are not married but two separate people who just fit together in my mind

This was drawn for a presentation for the owner of Levenger's who was a big fan of Dr. Livingston. Outline of Africia was done in watercolor as the background.
